INTRODUCTION

The CAMRIS Committee works to establish policies and procedures for the research use of MR scanners within the Department of Radiology. It’s mission is to review proposed research protocols involving human or animal studies. This process has two major goals.

1. To ensure all research performed on the MRI Research facilities complies with CAMRIS policy, University policy and Federal Regulations.

2. To determine that CAMRIS can maintain the resources to carry out each research protocol: including personnel, software, hardware and scan time.

CAMRIS consists of the following

CAMRIS is governed by a committee made up of the Facilities Managers listed above, CAMRIS staff and representatives from the user community. A full membership is included on this web site. The committee is chaired by Mitchell Schnall M.D., Ph.D. The CAMRIS committee is charged with overseeing the day-to-day operations of all of the research facilities listed, providing information regarding the use of these facilities to the research community at the University of Pennsylvania, and providing information regarding institutional policies ( IRB, UPCC, DSMc, CTSRMC, etc) and ensuring that the research community is in compliance with these policies.

The following sections describe the policies regarding safety, human and animal use, and provide guidelines for the use of each of these facilities.
